The authors describe here an inhibitory effect of dynasore on HIV entry without affecting transferrin uptake. There are few things to clarify here before making that claim. It will be important to verify whether dynasore treatment was done in serum-free condition as this will impact on drug efficacy. Then the authors write "off-target" several times to describe the effect of dynasore on HIV entry. I disagree with this word. What they see is a potential dynamin-dependent clathrin-independent effect of dynasore on HIV entry. As proposed by the authors, an experiment using a dominant form of dynamin will clarify the issue. So before publication, I will encourage the authors to modify the title and text accordingly to better describe the phenotype they observed.
